Generally, students seemed to like chat and were extremely competent at using it.
The lecturer noticed that students lacking confidence in the classroom tended to become far more chatty and self-possessed in the virtual environment.
Their only criticism - it's hard to follow all the threads and often people seemed to gravitate to chats with their friends in the same way they would in a live classroom - group dynamics were not altered or transcended.
