Conferences.
In my mind, there's nothing like feeling relaxed, half listening to an expert, half thinking your own thoughts...not feeling obliged to hang on every word...picking up on something insightful, letting it lead your thoughts, drifting for a minute or two, chatting to people and exploring new ideas during the breaks..I always end up with a notebook full of writing at conferences and only 30% reflects what was actually said.
